Inclusive Language
These principles and language guidelines are designed to prompt thought when using language. They are not set rules and should not be viewed as restrictions. We recognize that language is context- and audience-specific and shifts between time and place; we would encourage you to think about what works best for your purpose and whenever possible invite conversation with your intended audience on their preferred use of language.
Here is an online inclusive language guide developed by the Government of Canada. It is a guide on the key terms and concepts related to equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion.
Available here is a short guide on inclusive language, generally - it includes some perspective around using language that is inclusive around identity markers and contexts.
